The Alchemist
Melchizedek the King of Salem. There is much to ponder about how he as an entity is perceived throughout the book. Able to change and manifest his body in different places as well as his all knowing ambiance that Santiago feels from him. Melchizedek. Is perceived as an individual in this book, but however Melchizedek is an term used to describe what type of being he is and what he actually means in relevance to this existence of this tiny planet. I was reading a book by Bob Frissell at the exact same time as the Alchemist and it so happend to be talking about Melchizedek's and its great because Paul Coelho has so many great omens and biblical figures within his book.

Nice post, Michael. I'm really glad you shared this book with the class on Tuesday! It added a great deal to discussion!
